Of course the most important people at our elephant home are the mahouts who spend their lives looking after the elephants. Incredibly hard working and full of love for the wonderful elephants our mahout team are a key part of making sure your visit to meet our elephants is enjoyable and safe – not just for you but for the elephants!

Khun Nut
Worked with elephants for over 5 years and loves helping visitors learn about his favourite animals

Khun Chid Chai
Believes that living with the elephants is his life rather than a job and feels lucky to be able to spend all his time with the elephants

Khun Moo Day
Lived with the elephants for over 20 years and loves them as he loves his family

Khun AJ
Loves living with the elephants and feels like it’s a privilege rather than a job to spend all his time caring for them

Khun Kae Lae
Originally from deep in the mountain forests Kae Lae says he might struggle with English but it’s easy to talk to his elephants

Khun Dee Paw
The youngest mahout at MaeVang and he’s been living with elephants his whole life and believes he was born to be with elephants

Khun Maliwan
The ‘housekeeper’ at the home and she loves making sure the mahouts and visitors eat well and are able to enjoy their time with the elephants
